Taye Taiwo Joins Finnish Club HJK

Former Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo has agreed a short-term deal with Finnish team HJK Helsinki which is subject to a medical, according to 366football.

Taiwo reportedly had unsuccessful trials with Polish team Legia Warsaw and last featured actively in April 2014 for Turkey’s Buraspor.

If the deal goes through he could make his Finnish league home debut against HIFK on Monday.
Taiwo made his debut for Nigeria in 2004 and played at the 2006, 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. He alsoplayed for the Super Eagles at the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa, ammasing 59 international caps for the three-time African champions.

Taiwo’s biggest success came during a six-year stint with French side Marseille, his first European club which he joined in March 2005.
